Packing for Vacation

"Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, or a bag for your journey, for even two tunics, or sandals, or a staff..." (Matthew 10: 9-10)

I give up.
I'm trying to pack for our family vacation.
I cannot pack for vacation and live in the spirit of the Gospel all at the same time.
So much for Mom's ability to multitask.

I understand and sympathize all to well with you Barb;

If St.Francis himself was living in this day and age,I think that'd be a task for him too! I always get the dubious task of packing everyones clothes AND packing the car. By the time I have these chores accomplished I have to go to confession just for the copious stream of angry words and cursing that has poured forth from my lips thru the day.

Now hunting trips are easy! takes me 10 minutes tops to pack for those. Throw the rods,rifles and gear in the back and were off! But family trips are like getting ready for a long range climb up Everest!

Steve,
Do you honestly think Francis would have this trouble? I think the Friars of the Renewal have it nailed. They have a habit, a cloak, sandals, a Bible & prayer book, and a bedroll.
There are no packing lists, no choice of this book or that shirt, just those few items & they are done.
I'm toast. I'm sitting here trying to decide what book I will want to read NEXT WEEK so I can pack it.
Not gonna happen. And nobody here gets it.

Well, Francis might not have a problem if he was Just St.Francis in a different era, but if he was in our shoes trying to pack kids??? Ooooooh yeah, i think it'd be a problem for him!
