I know it from my own (non-Catholic) experience. I left Christianity and though I came back, I had to choose it.

I think everyone has to make that choice. And it terrifies me that THAT INCLUDES MY CHILDREN.Sarah Reinhardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12607023678006758848noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12633241.post-43597202980167727862013-06-06T17:13:31.560-04:002013-06-06T17:13:31.560-04:00I agree with Faith's comment, everyone has to ...I agree with Faith's comment, everyone has to choose for themselves.
I can say that for me it was the reverse, my parents never belonged to a church, my sisters and I were not baptized, we had no bible in our home, we never said grace, we never prayed, our home simply was not a religious one. I will add thought that it was a good home, we were loved, and well taken care of.
However, I had an interest in church. As a child I liked to spend the night at my friends house on Saturdays so I could go to church with her. As a teenager I went to Campus Life, as an adult I actively sought a church family to belong to. One of my sisters is agnostic, and the other does attend church occasionally and was baptized a number of years ago.
My parents still have no faith and certainly do not belong to a church.
My own children are now grown, one son is a declared atheist, one goes to church and the babies have all been baptized, one son simply can't be bothered, and my youngest runs hot and cold.
All were taken to mass through high school, the older two attended Catholic school up through middle school. All went to CCD and all received their sacraments. Unfortunately I cannot control what they choose as adults, and God did not design it that way. I pray for my children everyday and know and trust that they are in God's hands and in His timing His will be done.
Don't beat yourself up Barb. Remain faithful and pray.

Peace and Grace,

Bean

Beanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14484707482492844677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12633241.post-48669033062695090752013-06-06T13:28:36.317-04:002013-06-06T13:28:36.317-04:00I struggle with that same doubt. There are no guantees but I don't think there really should be because in the end it is between each of us and Christ. As parents, we try our best, we pray and then we have to let go. . . . that's life in a fallen world!Faithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10169821331076296753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12633241.post-41344685448891643092013-06-05T07:05:45.068-04:002013-06-05T07:05:45.068-04:00Lee, sorry--just found this comment today. That seems obvious, but it is not something I really did at all for most of my adult life, although I claimed to be a Christian. We have to be obedient to God at all times, call upon God at all times, and we have to put our relationship with God first, above all else.
I now read my bible daily, I have a little booklet that gives me old and new testament readings for each day of the year, at the end of a year the entire bible is read. I pray each morning, I used to just sit on the couch, or pray on my way to work, but now I kneel and pray hard, pray for my husband, my children and their spouses, my grandchildren, people I work with, relatives, whoever comes to mind, I talk things over with God, I offer my entire day to God to do with me as he sees fit.
I find myself calling on the Lord all day, a quick prayer to give me patience with a co-worker, or to give the right words to say, or to help me be kinder, gentler, asking him to carry my worries and stresses, thanking him for the good things given us, etc. etc.
It has taken a long time for me to get to this place, but I like it, I have found good books along the way that have steered me in the right direction.
Don't feel frustrated, God has you exactly where he needs you, and I think that feelings are fickle, trust your heart :)

Grace and Peace,

Bean Beanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14484707482492844677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12633241.post-76281022599475228992013-05-28T17:05:02.255-04:002013-05-28T17:05:02.255-04:00I was thinking about doing this too.
