What's Your Favorite Bible Verse?

Do you listen to the Among Women podcast? You don't have to have an iPod to listen in! You can download the files to your computer or even listen online. But this weekly podcast, hosted by Pat Gohn, is definitely worth your time.

I like to download this always-enlightening podcast and play it back when I've got some kitchen or household chores that will take a decent amount of time but not a lot of mental energy. Listening to Pat and her fascinating guests helps the time fly by--and I multitask by learning as I work!

Right now, Pat is preparing a special edition of Among Women, and she's looking for audience participation. New listeners can join in as well! Here are the details:

Dear Among Women listeners,

Please consider this an open invitation to submit your favorite Bible verses to me, and tell me why they "speak" to you, or are special to you. I'm preparing another Among Women "Special Edition" podcast and want to highlight the Bible and its role in our lives.

I'd like to know what Book, Chapter and verse the reading comes from, your name and city/state, and why you love those verses.

There are two ways to share your submissions:

1. Call and record your thoughts on our feedback line at: 206-203-2024. I love this option because it puts YOUR VOICE on the podcast.... and don't worry if you make a mistake, I can edit out little muffs or glitches! But do it! I'd love to hear from you. You can also send me a file recorded on your mobile phone, or on your computer. I can take wave files, mp3's and m4a's.

2. Send your feedback to me via email, or send it via Facebook.

Looking forward to learning what scripture verses are meaningful to you! Let's share God's Word with one another.

Your intentions remain in my prayers.

Peace,
Pat Gohn

Spiritual Exercise

All that recuperating I've been doing this year hasn't been so great for my waistline. So with the beautiful weather today, I knew that I had to just get out and get walking.

Walking by itself, though, is pretty boring. Unfortunately, there's no one around to be my walking buddy, so I decided that this would be a good opportunity for me to get caught up on the podcasts I keep downloading but don't always get a chance to listen to. So I grabbed a string bag to hold my cell phone, ID, house key and iPod, as well as a bottle of water, and I cued up a two-week-old edition of Among Women, since I've gotten a little behind in listening lately.

Boy, did I luck out. Pat Gohn began the podcast with a discussion about St. Bernadette--how appropriate that I'm listening to her story in May, the month of Mary! And then I got to hear an interview with Laraine Bennett, whose books on temperament are both fascinating and useful. In fact, I want to dive back into them, because I think that a little refresher course will help me understand my kids better. A little awareness of temperament is a really good thing in family relationships.

So now, I'm looking forward to tomorrow's walk! I wonder what I'll get to hear next.

Sarah's on the same page as me--last week she had a guest blogger, the author of The Rosary Workout. Sounds intriguing--especially in May!

It's the Little Things

On a day when I've been up since 3:30 AM (to take Big Brother to school at 4 for departure for his senior trip), it's the little things that will keep me sane, awake and reasonably happy until bedtime.

My whole family knows to stay away from me (far away) when I'm sleep-deprived and cranky. I tried to go back to sleep after I dropped my son off, but no such luck. So I figured I'd do my best to make the most of the rest of the day, in the hopes that I won't be sending the rest of my family running for the hills.

First of all, I said yes when TheDad asked if I wanted to hit the diner for breakfast. We had a nice time, too, just relaxing. I think we both needed that. And the poached eggs hit the spot. So did the (caffeinated) coffee.

I was home just in time to leave again for daily Mass. That's always a good thing.

Then I took myself for a long-overdue haircut. Last time I got a haircut it was December! I had the stylist try something new and so far I like it.

After that, I stopped at Panera for my favorite lunch of an asiago-cheese bagel with veggie cream cheese, and a caramel latte.

Maybe, if I can manage to get my work done early today, I'll squeeze in a nap before the school bus gets here.

But if I can't, and I'm so sleepy I can't be trusted around the stove at dinnertime, there's no fear. I found a pack of pre-seasoned taco meat in the freezer, so all I have to do is heat that up and add some tortillas, lettuce, salsa, and some boxed mac & cheese.

And if you want to hear what I sound like when I'm not sleep-deprived, I'm guesting on this week's Among Women podcast. Pat Gohn does a fabulous job hosting this podcast, and it was great talking with her.
